Alas, Lorinda, he does not have a brother.

He may have an evil twin, but if so, he is keeping it a secret from me. I'll let you know if I get any further intelligence on that...

And...he is cute and smart, isn't he? Thanks for saying so!

I can see why you are going to marry this guy--cute, smart and funny. What a pair you'll make. And he reads Voltaire? Does he have a brother? Or an evil twin?

I had quite a giggle about your PSA meets the El Grande Burrito dilemma. Yep, head in the sand (or the knitting) works for me.

The most absurd thing about Berkeley in my opinion is that "the locals" can be so self-righteous about how their consumer actions are going to save small, brown people on the other side of the world, while half of the city itself—the one right there, not on the other side of the world—is in a state of perpetual squalor and poverty (proximity to northern Oakland does not help this much).

Last night I had a polite young man with a full row of gold teeth ask me in a voice with a surprisingly high-pitched register, "Excuse me sir, but do you have any need for a [stolen] Palm Pilot?" And later that night I saw the police pulling a body out of drink at the Berkeley Marina! Ah, but if we only bought more "fair trade" coffee, and ate vegan, THAT would solve all of the problems in the world... as Voltaire implied at the end of Candide, perhaps one should concentrate on tending one's own garden before trying to take on the problems of the universe.

(While trying to confirm via Google News that it was indeed a body pulled out of the Marina last night, I found this very humorous tidbit from a police blotter of about a week ago: "Failed carjack: An El Sobrante man told police about 3 p.m. on the 6th to report that he’d been sitting in his GMC SUV at the foot of the pier in the Berkeley Marina when he and a companion were approached a gang of 10 or so short fellows, one of whom reached in the opened window and made an unsuccessful attempt to grab the keys from the ignition." Short fellows?)

Nice socks! And Rogue is looking very nice, as well. It's amazing what one can accomplish with wool in a well-air-conditioned room, is it not?
I have a little plan for a coordinating skein of mohair/wool. More details tomorrow...
