I like the cotton, but I have used Emu before in a blanket and it is a wonderful yarn. Not sure if that helped you on your decision though. :(

From a purely practical point of view, I'd use whichever one will wash the easiest, and hold up to repeated washings the best. Given that the little one probably won't wear it very long, baby puke (and other emissions) are awfully hard to wash out of knitted items. I prefer stuff that can be thrown in the washer and dryer, with the least amount of fuss.

I love all the rich saturated colors, and while I think a baby would also probably enjoy them, I'm going to vote for the cotton too. It's pretty, looks so soft, and would be the most versatile, especially in a slightly larger size.

Hah, I thought I was the last cell-phone free American. My brother weaves with organic cotton and the dish towels he sent me just keep getting softer and softer. Yummy. It does, however, shrink--at least if you put it in the dryer. If you don't put it in the dryer it takes forever to dry....Still, I vote for the cotton because it is almost summer and babies grow fast.--Or knit something bigger for the fall in any of the bright colors. Folks tend to run out of baby gift clothes when the kid hits 6-9 month size.

Well, for color alone I'd go for the Limbo - babies love bright colors because they can see them better, as opposed to the pastels we adults seem fixated on for babies. But y'know, summer's warmth is approaching (supposing the weather settles down), and he'll outgrow the sweater fast, and the gauge thing could be really annoying. So I vote for the organic cotton, yeah. [g]

I like the teal Tiara and may working in some of the Limbo as trim. I love using more saturated colors on baby stuff.
