You go, Alex! Aaargh, but this is frustrating. It's nice to be able to write about it in a humorous vein. I imagine many of us have been there. I've not had a craphound landlord quite this bad, but several who were bad enough. Hope the check is in your hot little hands soon!

Your Mr. Craphound sounds like my own landlords -- they would be Mr. and Mrs. Craphound. I rent my house from them. They tend to leave small repairs undone until they become big and expensive. They acted like it was all my fault when my hot water heater had to be replaced last year.

Great letter, Alex. Good for you. I hope that you can someday manage to buy the Dream House from your new, normal landlords.

Been there. I ended up taking my former landlord to small claims court, and won only to have her appeal. We ended up in a trial with a jury no less, and not only did I win again, but they awarded me triple damages. Don't forget - that deposit legal should be kept in an escrow account and you should also get the accrued interest. The best thing I ever did was to purchase my own place. Landlords suck.

Way to go, Alex! If Mr. Craphound has more than 3 gray cells rattling around in his cranium, he'll fork over a check pronto! But, as a paralega, please tell me you spent money to have it delivered by FedEx, messenger, etc. to prove he actually received the letter!
