2a. Hmm, I just realized maybe I sounded silly, since pink is rather gendered. I just meant, you know, the elephants were equal-opportunity animals, which is nice!

I am way behind, so many things to say:

1. The east coast reception looks so lovely and I am SO sad that I didn't make it to Boston in the end. I look forward--when wedding fatigue passes--to a full viewing of all of the pictures from all three events!

1a. Regarding the comments a few posts ago from Sherlock's Daddy: I'm going to have to agree that the pivotal question here is the wearer, not the dress. And I say this with a graduate degree in anthropology (YES, I knew one day that degree would be useful for SOMETHING!) Ellen, I know it's difficult to accept, but you're just going to have to get used to the idea that your appearance has decided to laugh in the face of time and be beautiful irrespective of age. I'm sorry to be the one to break it to you, but there it is ;)

2. Excellent choice on the elephant. (Especially in the aftermath of wedding 'gender role hell', how nice to give a girl something that is so mercifully unburdened by gender-assignment!)

3. I knew your landlord was bad, but I had no idea just how bad. Yikes. Very well done, Alex and Shelley, on bringing that situation into line! And even further congratulations on the new house, which looks completely gorgeous. You are so deeply deserving!

Shelley and I had agreed to do a "good cop/bad dog" routine before he came by. <i>"Listen sh*tbird, I'm your only friend in the world. But my partner here -- well... let's just say the whole 'man's best friend' don't apply, if you capiche what I'm telling you."</i>

Thanks, Lucille.

And yes, Sarah, I did do an elephant sweater (a different one) for another friend's baby. I have a thing for elephants, I guess.

Oh, my goodness, that is the cutest little elephant sweater I've seen in a long, long time! And you are so brave to knit intarsia. I myself never do. Hey, didn't you knit a different elephant baby sweater long ago for a friend in Chicago?

Can't believe that Craphound brought the check over so quickly! Good for you guys!

Your father-in-law is adorable -- he looks like a nice guy.

And your new landlords are one in a million. They are the Anti-Craphounds.
